Jeppe Blichfeldt Winther,
Research Scientist
My name is Jeppe Blichfeldt Winther and I work as a research scientist in the molecular pharmacology and screening team in the research department at NMD Pharma.
As part of one of the preclinical research teams, I support the different drug discovery projects at NMD Pharma, mainly by testing new compounds in the laboratory. In addition, I also plan, execute, and, in other ways, support smaller research projects to gain key insights into the molecular mechanisms of our compounds. I mainly specialize in electrophysiology, working with both skeletal muscle tissue and cell patch clamping.
Before joining NMD, I received a Master’s degree in sports science from Aarhus University with a specialized focus on skeletal muscle and exercise physiology. I completed my Master’s thesis in collaboration with Prof. Ole Bækgaard Nielsen, one of the founders of NMD pharma, and it was through him that I learned about NMD Pharma and the science it is built upon.
Since I have an interest in the subject, I naturally find it very exciting to work at NMD Pharma. We do a lot of explorative science and develop new interesting methods to deepen our understanding of muscle physiology and the mechanisms of our compounds. I work with many passionate and talented people in an environment, where curiosity and knowledge sharing are encouraged. As such, it is a great place to learn, which appeals to me. The most exciting thing about working at NMD, is aiding in developing novel treatments for patients suffering from neuromuscular diseases. It is highly motivating to know that my work can potentially help a lot of people live better lives.
We have an open and welcoming atmosphere at NMD Pharma. People are very friendly and passionate about their work. I find that this common passion and sense of purpose form a strong comradery between us team members. While we all work hard, there is always room for a casual non-work-related chat during the workday and the company often arranges social activities. I particular enjoy our weekly running club, where we take time out of our workday for a joint run (or walk, if you prefer). It is a great initiative that promotes health and improves the social bond and overall job satisfaction.
